The end of the Football seasonZionsville's football season ended with a loss to Cathedral in the sectionals. It was a closer game than the score implied, with Cathedral ensuring the win by pulling two scores ahead in just the last two minutes on a touchdown off a turnover. There was drama during the first quarter when Josh Hinkle, the senior Eagles quarterback, was injured. During the tense moments while the EMTs worked, the players, coaches and parents prayed. My heart just breaks when a player--any player--gets hurt. Hinkle was taken off the field by ambulance, in a neck brace and taped to a backboard. (I understand that he has a concussion, and is expected to make a full recovery.) As if to let everyone know that the Eagles were down but not out, Trevor Liechty, the Eagles sophomore backup quarterback, took the field and almost immediately threw a touchdown pass to Ben Kocher. The game was close, and exciting, until the end. I am sorry to see the football season end. May I shout it just one more time?? GO EAGLES!!! Comments
